They are different necks not just for what you said but the American Standards have a Bi-Flex truss rod in them that can adjust the neck both concave and convex curvature to the neck the Hwy1 neck does not. They are both good necks but there is a reason the Standard neck would cost more if someone was selling a one.

Hwy1 has Ping standard tuners.
Amer. Standard has Deluxe staggered tuners.

simply because of truss rod thats it.
the american standard strat necks are not in any way
superior over the highway ones 2007 to present necks.
or anything else for that matter.

Hi alwaysstrat: Am Std necks do have the rolled fingerboard edges, which personally I like very much indeed. Very comfortable.

Never needed the micro-tilt system, but I guess it's there if I ever do...

I have played the CP 60, AM Standard, Deluxe Players and Hwy 1. Of that group, the Hwy 1 is the one I liked least and that is because I did not like the way the neck felt. Can't totally explain why, it just felt rough/uncomfortable.

But, really, you should put on blinders and play several guitars and then buy the one that you love regardless of the model. What looks good on paper may not be what YOU like when you actually play it.

hey ceri. im about tone and feel
and for me the highway ones 2007 to present
give me what i want. the highway one strat is one
of the very few guitars period that you dont have to change the guitar
to get the tone for the style you are playing at that time.
you cant get that from the new american standards.

Thats cool. Me I like the Bi flex after you set enough of them for people you get to like they way you can bow it back and forth doing setup. And I do like the staggerd tuners and the rolled board. They both have the same finnish on the back but the finish is different on the headstock front.
Curious what feature is it you feel make the Hwy1 neck superior?

They are both quality necks but they are different in several ways and feel is a personal preference which also can differ some from guitar to guitar.
Some may like the extra features of the standard and some may not.

Im not exactly sure what the improvements were. I believe the necks on the newer Hwy1's have different frets, as well as some truss rod changes. But this is what Im trying to understand.

Can anybody tell me what the differences are between Standard American Strat necks and USA made Hwy1 necks?

If you play a newer Hwy1 (post 2006), how do you like the neck?

the necks are sweet mate. i havent played an american standard tho

but i find them amazingly easy to play (they play them selfs) get slightly sticky fingers from the front of the fret board, no stickyness from the back of the neck tho! best and easiest guitar ive ever played!

hope that helps a bit
