The 2008 American Standard Strat looks great and I was thinking of investing in one. I also took a look at the American deluxe Strat and it had better pickups (SCM noiseless) and an S-1 switching system. I could get the American Standard and replace the pickups with SCM or Lace Pickups. I'm confused on which one to get. I have a few questions that need answering.

-S-1 Switching? What is that?

-Delta-Tone Circuit? How does it work?

-Does the American Deluxe come with the SKB hardshell case or is it a standard Fender hardshell case?

-Which one would you buy?

The Delta tone control is a no load tone pot with a switch at the ten position which removes the pot from the circut so that there is no load from it. At that time the bridge and mid pickups are full treble while switched off.

S-1 switching allows for more/different pickup combinations. Official link here, has the diagrams for the different guitar models it is used on:

Yea the S-1 switch gives you so many more pickup configurations and then you add that Delta tone its amazing the sounds you can get.

If I could buy one or the other, I would buy the American Deluxe. I like the looks of it and all the different sound that you can get with it.

i think it really depends on if your the type of player that likes all sorts of different sound. some people like keeping the blade in bridge position all year round, while some like to switch it up during songs. the deluxe is amazing for the latter. also if your just a bare bones player that likes to keep it simple then go for the standard. i went for both. if i were you and had a few extra dollars though, i'd go for the deluxe. it's more of an upgrade then lets say a hwy 1 to a standard.

good luck
