That foto flame is pretty cool. Someone brought it up a couple of weeks ago on this forum if you want to know more about that.

Foto-Flame Stratocaster Japan 94-95 Aged Cherry burst simulated woodgrain on front usually basswood body some were alder. Did the same with the neck. Last MSRP was $799.00. They achieved the simulated woodgrain look by putting a thin film (literally a picture) around the body /neck and finished over it.

Still a pretty guitar :D Check out Electric guitar Blue Book or Vintage Guitar Price Guide for value

Look at the back of your neck about 4 inches above where it says " made in Japan". You will see an image that looks like the
head of the hamburglar from the old McDonalds commercials.

Legend has it that the guy in Japan who design foto film liked the hamburglar and snuck the image in on the back of the neck.
He was supposedly fired after a couple of thousand were made.

No, really? Amazing!

But... am I blind? Where is it: I can't see...?

BTW, the back of that body, which I presume has not had the photographic treatment also has a particularly beautiful natural figure to it. If I'd been on the production line I'd have suggested saving that one for a transparent finish without the fotoflame.

Or is it a picture on the back too?

Cheers - C

I found this photo:

I dunno. It's a little like the Jesus image on the Washburn. You can see it if you want to. Our brains are hardwired to recognize human faces.

Ceri,
The back is natural wood... They only capped the front of the body and the back of the neck...

Ah, now I see it: thank you, russianracehorse.

Wow, seems a little rough to fire a guy for that. Guess they're serious minded folk, the Japanese...

Thanks, tdanb2003. It's pretty isn't it - to my eye, anyway...

Now we want to see a photo of jesus on a washburn then.

That's kinda lame not to fotoflame the back though.

Look at the pictures bradymore posted. Look for the picture of the guitar facing backwards on the guitar stand.

Look halfway up from where the neck meets the body to where the arm of the guitar stand meets the neck.

See the hamburglar?

Ceri posted it on the recent "Jesus Stratocaster" thread (http://www.fender.com/community/forums/viewtopic.php?t=16279).

Ceri wrote:
I do hope it causes nobody any offence if I mention here a story I recently came across. A shop in Ludington MI recently believed they had discovered the face of Christ in the bookmatched grain on a Washburn acoustic:

I guess there's a sort of Turin Shroud image there if you choose to see it...? The "full story" including video available at this page:

It's a weird, weird world...
