I have a 5-way strat, so my favorites are position 1 (neck), position 2 (neck and mid) and position 4 (mid and bridge)

I also like to have my neck tone at like a 5 or 6, and bridge tone at full (10).

I'm curious on what people have to say...

I have the FENDER HIGHWAY ONE with the two singlecoils and one humbucker. So I use the neck and middle pickup for my style { a combo sort of like a SRV, CLAPTON, HENDRIX SOUND }. Then I switch to the humbucker/bridge pickup for heavier stuff.

Not bad. I'm kinda into the 50's stuff, so I like to play with the 4th position because it reminds me of Buddy Holly.

How 'bout tone? Do you leave it maxed?

Positions are backwards:

5-Position Blade:
Position 1. Bridge Pickup
Position 2. Bridge and Middle Pickup
Position 3. Middle Pickup
Position 4. Middle and Neck Pickup
Position 5. Neck Pickup

This is from the Fender website on the page for the American Standard Stratocaster. :)

5 switch ofcourse, but then there are some guitarrists that only use the 3 way switch like Yngwie Malmsteen...... :)

5 way in either neck, neck plus middle, or middle only. I leave the neck tone wide open and always leave the middle on about 6 or 7.

Ooops. Sorry, I've learned it backwards I guess. My teacher taught me that way. Thanks for clarifying that :)

5 way-
Neck w tone pot at 6 or 7 for clean jazzy sounds thru the clean channel.
Neck- mid w/ distortion for rythm
Mid- Bridge or Bridge for Leads with the lower tone pot rolled back to 6 or 7.
Rarely use the mid by itself. Just my thang.

My tone knobs work the neck and bridge only, the middle is wide open. I usually keep the bridge rolled back and the neck just a tad off of full on.

It doesn't matter to me, because 90% of the time I use the neck pickup. The other 10% I'll either be using the middle pickup or the combination of the middle and neck, but I rarely use that either. 3-way would be ideal for me as I hate accidentally switching to positions 4 or 2 and having that twangy sound when I don't want it.
