"Now you've made me want to go enroll in the Vox forum and see if I can get any advice on upgrading my old 1967 Phantom VI guitar and beefing up the old 2x12 combo I got with it."

I remember those! That's the tear drop body design if I recall? What type of combo came with that?

Pete55,

Actually, the Mark VI was the teardrop body. The Phantom was the coffin shaped body. (Anyone remember Paul Revere and the Raiders?). The amp was'nt actually a part of the deal, but it was the amp I got with the guitar. Vox Viscount- 40 watt 2x12 combo.
I still have that stuff, I just don't use them.

P.S. It was my birthday present when I was 9

Had my hands on quite a few teardrops and phantoms in the mid 80's before their price skyrocketed. In truth i dont remember them as being good guitars but with lots of character. The main point of attraction was the inbuilt effects on some of the phantoms, which rarely worked. That was a very quirkey circuit, more temperamental than a fender jaguar and less dependable than most 70's japanese cars.

This guy still imports parts from italy and assembles them
