I have both, however I think I like rosewood the most because it feels more solid and I like a solid neck :P not saying that mapple is bad though I also like my maple MIM strat a lot :)

I have one of both (American made) and I lean towards the rosewood. Just feels and looks better.

I like the look of the Rosewood. I could never get used to the maple look. When I play one it seems a little more sticky (maybe the wrong word), not as free to play. I don't know, it feels different. I know there are a lot of Maple Fretboard users that say the same thing about Rosewood. That is why I like the way Fender gives us a choice with their instruments as to which neck we can choose.

own both types but not rosewood on a fender. Truth be told i prefer maple. Its harder wearing, requires less maintainance. I find it plays faster and it matches the headstock.

Of all the fretboards ive owned the jackson ebony board has been the best playing.

Here is a dumb story... I bought my '76 Gibson SG around 1981 or so. Because I loved that guitar's fretboard so much, I was sold on "rosewood". For sure, over the bulk of my guitar-playing life, it was that SG that made me "a rosewood guy". It just has such a superior feel. HOWEVER, I just found out last year in 2008 that '76 Gibson SG Standards do not have rosewood. I found out that all this time I was playing on an ebony fretboard. So ... I guess that makes me "an ebony guy".

I have one Strat thats maple, the other is rosewood and my Gretsch and Les Paul are rosewood. I like them all for the individual sound they have.

I have one of each--rosewood Stratocaster and maple Telecaster--but my favorite of all time was an ebony fretboard on a G&L Nighthawk (lost in the Great Mortgage Payment Massacre of 1994/5/6).

I personally like the feel and warm tone of rosewood and ebony better than maple, but my maple-fingerboarded Telecaster really has a great tone and cuts throught the mix very well...so I guess my answer is, "I'll take two of each, please!"

To me, I like maple. My MiM has a one-piece maple neck, and it feels (IMO) more comfortable than any rosewood-neck Strat or any other rosewood guitar I've ever played.

Other than that, I do LOVE ebony fingerboards. They feel very very smooth, but its not often you come across a guitar with that kind of wood on it (other than my 1961 Gibson Melody Maker which I THINK has an ebony fingerboard).

Maple. Love the syrup, love the wood!!!!

I've got a Daphne Blue Strat, and I just think it looks better with the maple fretboard. Haven't played enough to tell the difference, and not sure I'm convinced yet that it affects the tone that much.
