Hi, i just got a new strat. it is a 1999 mexican stratocaster and it has an indigo color that i have never seen before. It sounds great for a mexican strat. It was $499 dollars. is this a good deal?

Sorry to say it too but it seems overpriced. I usually buy MIM for no more than $300.

Essentially a 10 year old MIM Strat for more than a new one? I say you were had. I'm not sure where you live. That may explain it if you live somewhere other than the US, where I understand prices can be a bit higher. But If it plays nice and sounds good, then I'd say you got ultimately got a good deal. Now go play her!

Dude an '08 MIM Strat runs for $399.00 A new '09 runs for $440-ish. I would have to look at what you purchaced. Were there any modifications to it that made it better than a shiney new one? Ask yourself a few question:

1. Does it sound good?
2. Does it play good?
3. Did you have the "oh my God I gotta have it no matter the price" feeling when you bought it?

If you can answer all three questions yes, then you made out like a bandit.
