:?: anyone have a good Strat open tuning set up? So far I added some springs to flatten the bridge, and raised the action 1/32. Seems ok with .11's

I like big strings and alittle high action anyway, so I guess my guitar is setup for slide to begin with.

I like to use open E, usually when I'm messing around with some Duane Allman stuff, like Statesboro Blues or something similar.

[/quote=1955Stratman] That is a good set up, I use it. .11's are perfect for sliding for a rich, full sound. My action is a little higher than yours; I play aggressively, bending strings. I like to get my fingertips under the string and WOW it to within an inch of its life! I like the Ry Cooder open G and open D tunings. When playing standard tuning, I tune down one-half step to facilitate bending and apparently improves tone.
The spring addition is good--I use four: three for the bass strings and one on the bottom for treble strings; otherwise the tremolo arm is too heavy with five and the tailpiece lifts with only three.
