Sorry to bring up a question that maybe redundent here, but do replacement pickgards come with foil on the underside, as my original pickgard has? Been reading about shielding pickgards, and wondered if just the backing is enough, or should the pickup cavity be totally lined?

Not all replacement parts are created equal. However, if it is a Fender pickguard then it will have the foil on the underside. If you buy a cheaper guard, it is easy enough to add your own foil. Just get some contact adhesive spray and, well you can figure out the rest. Aluminum foil works just fine. It is a great conductor and that's all you really need.

I bought the 2" stewmac copper sheilding tape for $10.

http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics ... _Tape.html

Super easy. I've sheilded 4 pickguards with it and still have a bunch left.
