Hi,
Being a total beginner I would need some help.
I could get a used guitar, but I'm not sure if it's an original Fender or not. I've already tried and compaired lots of pictures, but I'm still not sure. So please, any help is greatly appreciated.
I have put three pictures here:
http://members.aon.at/localhost/strat/index.html
The head says "Fender", but there's no stripe at the rear of the neck. Also the connector seems a bit to near to the edge.
On the other hand I couldn't find many copies with rosewood on the front. Also I read often that original Fender heads don't fit so well to the neck of a copy.
Anyways, could you please take a look at the pics and tell me your opinions? Many thanks in advance!
(And please don't laugh at me if you clearly identify it as a cheap copy - just tell me, thanks)
Best Regards!

Is that a "you make em" or a "partsocaster" made with after market Fender like parts?

A truss rod cover at the headstock?

That's no Fender (even though that's what the fake logo says).

looks a bit like a early 80's ibanez in great condition to me. The body seems too round for a strat too.

Sorry

Honstly it does nto look like a Fender Stratocaster. It looks like it was made from parts unknown and someone slapped a Fender sticker (or decal) on the headstock. This is not legit.

+1
since fender never use a truss rod cover, "totally square" humbucker slot, and unoutline fender logo

Ok,
Many thanks for your replies, I knew I can count on you.
You all recognized details on the first glance which I didn't even notice. Experience can't be beaten, right?

Thank you all for taking your time!

Best Regards!

(Just in case anyone is interested, it was sold today on ebay for $US140  )

dont see why the seller is a bandit. $140 for a good strat copy seems a faif price to me. After all non of us have played it to judge it. It could still be a valid instrument even if it isn't a fender. The ethic's behind putting the decal on the headstock are wrong but it doesnt mean the guitar doesn't sound and play nice.

Hi again,
Just wanted to speak up for the seller: He himself stated in the offer that it's of "unknown source but no real Fender". So he's a honest seller.
Only I was the one who was additionally seeking experts opinions. Learned a lot for the future by the way, thanks again!
And no, I didn't buy it. Although it might have been worth it, but without trying first...no.

Regards,
Fredl.

He advertized it as a Fender and it wasn't. I don't care how nice the guitar sounds or plays he lied. It probably sounds like $@!& anyway. Rarely do fake immitations sound good. They're just supposed to look good in the pictures.

"fake imitations"

As opposed to . . . . authentic imitations?

Sorry man it was just too funny not to repeat.
