Is it squire series. A black fender logo with squire series written on the round bit of the headstock like this.

If so its a fender not a squire. The body is basswood. the trem, tuners, pickups and electronics are generic cheap far east stuff.

An MIM Squier!?
I've never seen one before. I thought all Squiers were made in the far east.

Its a fender MIM budget model made from 93 to 97. Notice the decal says Fender, squire series. Not Squire, squire series. The serial matches with fender's dater and guitardater as fender.

These were good guitars and you can pick them up at times for a nice price if you keep and eye out.

I never see em. I'd happily fly to America to pick one up if you do see one for sale. The pickups and tuners are garbage but the neck is sheer heaven, If you put a load of time and effort into it. I paid £199 for mine brand new in 95 (middle of our last recession :D ). Consider that a standard MIM is £350 in the Uk that's quite a price.

Here's my mini strat, I bought it for my Daughter to learn on when she lost intrest this is what I did with it. All in all for 99 bucks it's not bad, sounds wonderful now. Still wont stay in tune LOL. I made the pickguard myself alond with winding my own pickup. Oh and the decals are self made as well.

Thats a very nice job mate. How did you find the pickup winding process, im currently considering winding some old charvel singlecoils i've got.
I notice that neck is 20 frets, what pitch do you tune the guitar to?

I tune it to 440, as far as the pickup I bought the materials from Stewmac.com a long time ago. The process wasnt hard but did get some getting use to. I've spent alot of time reserching magnets, wire, windings etc.. Give it a shot, it can be fun. I'm certainly no Semour Duncan, but I can hold my own.

Man, that is a sweet makeover you did! Is it 'cleared' or just electrical tape? Do tell :)

Jefferson One,
It was black originally when I got it, so a little creative taping and a can of white paint.. and poof instant EVH. I tell ya for a small guitar it has a HUGE sound.
