Thanks for all the input guys. Does anyone know a good person to set up guitars in the Los Angeles area?

Mike at Gards Music in Glendora is good. Reasonable prices, very knowledgeable, easy to talk to etc. and NO EXTRA CHARGE if you tried working on it first hahahahahaha.

That's really nice, I charge a little more if I have to "unf_ck" something because you messed it up.

I have been playing for about ten years off and on. I just bought a MIM strat. Whenever I've bought a rig I've played it first at the store for awhile to see if its what I think it is. This time I didn't. My mistake. The neck really needed work. Moral? Play at the store before you take it home if you can.

Everything needs adjusting. MIM's to Masterbuilts. The good guitars just need less and are easier to work on and stay adjusted better. If you're gonna play, learn to tweak. Or pay guys like me to do it. Your choice. I've done 10 year old kids guitars to Tom Petty's. They all adjust, and they all go out of adjustment, for a host of reasons. There are no magic bullets, boys...no matter what we may want to think. Learn to work on what you play. If you buy cheap guitars or MIM's , then just learn to work more!

Yep, if you can get to the SFV (he's over near where 405 crosses over Roscoe Blvd, near the Galpin dealerships).

The shop is run by Eric "Chaz" -- great guy just to talk to, first class work and he stands behind it all the way. I've had him work on a number of my guitars (6 string and bass). He will work with you to get it the way you want it to play and no nickle and diming either.

If you go in and want to mention me, I'm Phil -- the guy who works for the entertainment payroll company and is into all the wine :)
