Does anyone know if this is possible or will it harm the circuit. Im getting a funny resonance on my E + B strings when i pick hard. The pickups are sunk flush to the scratchplate, so their not too high. It makes little difference if their set to regular height. The strange resonance is prominent when the boost is turned to 0.

I read on some site that some fella (specifics are great eh?) had a similar problem. He alleviated it by only using batteries for a couple of hours. He was also told its due to the treble on those strings overloading the circuit. A pot could be wired in kind of as a trimpot.

I'm wondering if the 18v mod could help increase the headroom of the circuit and so steer away from the overload problem?

Happy new beer, all help greatly appreciated.

I don't know about the Clapton guitar pickups.. I know they're active ... but for example on EMG pickups the 18 volt mod is very common and it does increase the headroom really nice.. actually I was recommended this mod by some EMG guy who wrote back to me long ago... :)

sussed in partially. It seems like something to do with the capacitor value on the tone pot. Some time ago i changed it to a .47 cap to try and emphasize the bass a bit more. I just changed it back to a .22 and it seems a little better, the synthetic after tone has completely gone and the buzz when hitting the string hard is diminished too. It only happens in the bridge+mid position. There's no cold solders either, i inspected it when i just changed caps. Its a really neat job, i must of been drunk.

Sync, i got a jackson that had the emg 18v mod on it. It doesnt work on the mid boost circuit. When you wire the batteries parallel it does though. Cheers mate.
