Tube amp. Vintage if you can find one. Take your axe with you, don't try the amp without YOUR guitar. That way you won't be suprised when you get the amp home.

The new Crate Palomino V32 (or any Palomino series) amps really have a great vintage sound if that's what your looking for. Personally, I plug my Strat into a Marshall MG50DFX. The Marshall has so many options, blues,
metal, etc. Go to your local guitarcenter, snake an axe off the wall
and bounce from amp to amp.

I'm partial to the Blues DeVille. I have a 1993 tweed 2 X 12, and love it.

Is the Blues Deville 2-12 OK for practicing or is it too powerful? Need something to cut through drumset set up in the attic, but also want to be able to practice at lower volumes.

Don't want to shake the sky, just want good tones at loud and low volumes, and NO it doesn't have to be a Marshall!

I really like the new Champion 600. I have that and the Fender Deluxe with one 12 inch speaker. Very pleased with both, I also like the G-Dec for practicing.

Thanks, I already have a Champ 12 which is a great practice amp. I wanted to get something loud enough to play with a drummer but also something I turn down and use when no one is around to bang on the drums.
