So I am thinking the resistor is lowering the load and making the pickups more powerful but still maintaining a ground so that some highs can still bleed through to ground keeping the sound from being to bright.

I Have no doubt that that 3.00 dollar resistor is important to the sound and how the Greasebucket circut works.

no muddiness, it just cuts out the treble.
I've got the circuit on my Tele and I love it.

Hi

I have it in my Strat Pro and it works great, no "muddiness" at all when turned down.

Regards.

This post took a turn in a different direction. Everyone knows what a Greasebucket does. But it is the design of the circut with the two Caps and Resistor on a Standard Pot.

Hey Chet, did you ever hear back from Fender?
I'm just curious.
Maybe they want to keep it shrouded in mystery :)

This is one of those threads that is just full of unscientific nonsense. There is no substitute for a little coursework on electrical circuits.

True but the poster answered there own question.
Quote( rolls off the highs without adding bass) End Quote It's hard to explain tone to someone but it was answerd and Eddie expanded to the the theory of the circut and it went on to design features. Then it went to I like mine it not muddy. No harm no fail you no how post change direction and grow from the start.
And yes Chet let us Know if you here from Fender.
