I have a stock MIM Strat.
Why is the bridge so at an angle and not flat against the body.
I have another that the bridge sits flat, +- very little clearance, against the body of which I prefer?
Can this be adjusted? How?

Thanks for any info.

The bridge sits at an angle so that you can raise and lower the pitch with the tremolo. If you want to adjust it, take off the plastic plate on the back of the guitar. There should be three (or maybe five) springs attached to the bridge at one end and to a claw at the other (the end nearest the neck). There are two screws that secure the claw to the body. Screw these in some, and continue to retune your guitar as you do. Once you get the bridge flush, you can tighten the screw a little more to make sure the bridge doesn't lift up when you bend a string.
