Those are the right ones.
I'd like to know how well those hold up as opposed to the Sperzels.since I'm looking at another guitar for the LSR setup.

Thank you,

Yep. They'll fit right in. I took out my old ones, dropped the new ones right in and tightened 'em down. Easy as pie.

Another thing that can cause a problem like this is too many winds around the post of the tuning machine. The wraps should never cross over or sit on top of each other. The Fender owners' manual provides instructions on how to install strings for the various types of machines. You'd think it was hard to do this incorrectly, but it isn't.

Should be an easy change out and it will most likely address your issue. Lube up the nut slots with a bit of graphite too.

another thing to try guys is tune your guitar up to pitch rather than down
so that the tension is always on the tuner i have both standard schaller tuners
on my am strat and vintage locking gotoh tuners on my classic 50s strat and
dont seem to have much of a problem just check setup if youve changed
gauges on your strings and make sure they are well stretched first hope this helps

Good advise. I never put more than 3 winds on the post and never over lap the string...I'm kinda anal about that.

Where did you find those? I have been looking for the "F" Locking Tuners everywhere. None of my local shops have them, none on-line, and everyone is trying to get me to use Gotoh(?) locking tuners. I have read mixed reviews on them. To be honest I want to keep Fender parts on my Fender.

I am still waiting to see if my nut is the culpret. I ordered the Fender/Schaller Deluxe locking tuners, but I did not see the "F" on the knobs. Oh well. While I have the strings off to change the tuners I am going to look at my nut more closely, if the nut is too messed up, I am considering options for a new nut. I am hoping that this will not be a pricey fix as well. I am still a little leery about the LSR nut because of what happened to you.

Thanks for the pics.

Sperzel make amazing locking tuners, better then Schallers in my opinion. I bought a set of Sperzel inline locking tuners last summer and had them installed in an Ibanez which has a two pin tremolo system similar to a Floyd Rose so you can drop further then on a Strat (which to be honest I can barely get anything out of my Strat without it going out of tune badly, even half a step). The original tuners on my Ibanez were Ghoto locking tuners which weren't bad for stock ones, but they had two pin mounting whereas the Sperzel's had a single point so a slight modification was made. Either way the tuners I have are the easiest locking tuners on the planet to use, just feed the string through the hole and pull it tight, turn the knob on the underside of the headstock and it clamps down tight, only gotta turn the tuning head about two rotations to get it in tune. I am trying to remember which model my tuners are but they are fantastic.

the shorter staggered tuners go with the higher strings (closer to the far end of the headstock)

Alrighty folks. An update on my locking tuners. I went with Fender/Schallers Deluxe Locking Tuners. Here is the process.

1. Removed Strings
2. Removed old hardware
3. Instralled new hardware
3. Installed new strings following guidelines in owners manual

The tuning posts are staggard short to tall posts. I have just one question, are the posts supposed to be installed Low E highest post, High E shortest post or vice-versa? There were no instructions that came with them so I guessed. That makes the strings the same level when you look at the guitar's headstock.
