The standard (MIM) series is coming out with a Candy Apple Strat with the new tinted neck and logo. When, doesn't show on their site. Can anyone shed some light on this subject. Thanks.

I haven't seen the 2009's on this site yet. I am not sure of the colors. The logo has been modified. The neck is slighlty aged. Everything else is the same (all this for $50 more than last year models).

Musicansfriend has a pic of it on their site. Look beautiful, always wanted a Candy Apple Red but up until now at least as far as I know you had to buy a higher end strat to get one. For less than 5 bills I am sold as soon as it is confirmed.

it seems like the fenders get more and more each year. why? don't they want new people to try their instruments for the first time and fall in love for an easy price?

to clarify, i mean their lowest end instruments, the type that an experimenting beginner would buy.

Not to get ahead of ourselves, does anyone know if the Candy Apple Red is coming or not. A dealer I know says that he don't know, that its still hear say. Anyone here know the real deal. I personally love Mexican Strats and a Candy Apple Red would make my guitar dreams.

Well, at least it looks like they took the "Made in Mexico" off the front of the head stock. Like someone would want to advertise that. Not quite sure what they where thinking on that one.

I think I'll buy a black with maple neck now. Cool!

They still offer the bottom of the barrel squire starting at about a hundred bucks... but yea it does seem like the MIM guitars are going up in price... last time i bought a MIM it was about $350 I dont remember what model strat it was though....

Most everything gets more expensive every year. That's inflation. Few things get less expensive. HDTV's would be an example. But their prices will eventually bottom out, and then start climbing with the inflation rate. I can tell you from a lifetime of experience that electric guitars are the cheapest they have ever been. Small price increases with the years just reflect a little inflation.

When my parents bought me my first electric guitar back in the 60's they paid $200. Now, to get a guitar of that quality you'd have to pay - $200. An American Fender cost about $500 back then. Now you can get one for less than twice that. Don't tell me guitars are expensive. The fact that Fender can make a profit at these low price levels is a tribute to the company's efficiency. :)

Fender DID make a Candy Apple red Stratocaster. Take a look at this 1996 HSS Strat of mine. It has a finish that I have never seen on any other MIM Strat. A Candy Apple metalflake finish. Image

Thats a great looking guitar paisley. Your are right the MIM Tex Mex in 96 came in Candy Apple Red which is a shinny deep pearl looking red yours looks to be the Crimson Red Metalic which was availible on the MIM HSS Fat Strat's until 2000 they had the metal flake apperance .
