Is there really that much of a difference between the Fender American Vintage '57 strat and the CS '56 NOS? The only real difference are the pickups and the lack of a CS logo on the guitar as far as I can tell. Is it really worth the extra $1000? I'm not rich and really need a back-up guitar, and while I want CS quality I just am not convinced that it is worth another $1000 dollars.

Not to mention that the American Vintage has a V neck, which I would prefer. It comes with the tweed case and a thin-skin nitro finish (the CS has these to, but for $2560)... I see no reason to pay $1000 more dollars really... especially since I'm in high school. lol

I don't think they had high school students in mind when they set the prices. It's a good thing that everybody's not in school, or that guitar wouldn't sell.

Let us kow what you got. Wish I could've afforded a $1000+ guitar when I was in high school or had the option of paying an additional $1000. I am sure you will be happy with either Fender.
