The Vox wah sounds pretty good, as well as the stuff made by Budda. I must say after wearing out 3 wahs all together I dont mess with them anymore. I got sick of them going sqeaky on me.

They are a great pedal and good to use a bit, but I never had good luck with the pots in them. Be sure to invest in something that will last you a few solid years.

as Brad said, the squeak can be a problem. Personaly i like a good deal of squeak and pot crackle too. My dunlop crybaby is just getting near the pop crackle and squeak i like, after 13 years.

Dunlops are great and robust, their tone is a bit lacklustre compared to the 70's jen crybabys. It can be modded to get near to it though. I had a jen some 20 years ago, i sold it for £20. I see em going for £200+ nowadays.

The plain old Crybaby works for me. A wah is an effect that you probably will only once in a while. Save your money. I just got a new one and it has a buffer circuit in it so I really don't notice any significant tone sucking like the old ones. My other wah is an original 70's Fender Fuzz Wah. It's a cool sounding pedal but it's big and heavy and the distortion is a little too 60's-70's for the stuff I play now.

I've owned a few wah pedals...the Snarling Dogs Whine-o-wah, George Lynch Morley Wah, and the Dunlop 535 Q. Out of all of them, I just preferred the Dunlop, because the Wah has a nice thicker tone and overall better sound quality vs. the other ones. I find the Morley a bit thin sounding for some reason. You want a decent wah, a Dunlop would be a great choice.

I have a Dunlop Crybaby 535Q and it's a great pedal.

It definitely takes some time to adjust the controls to get the tone you want, but once you find the one that you want, you'll be using it a lot.

For all of the different variations of sounds you can get with it, it's a great buy for the $.
