Hi, I posted the tubescreamer question, but I think I changed my mind. I think I'm going to get a wah instead. I'm thinking about the Crybaby 535Q, but if you have other suggestions let me know. And if you know any obscure brands that are really nice then let me know.

Hi Blaqdog,

May I ask what kind of wah tones or styles you might be looking for? There are a lot of wha pedals out there and a lot of them have different shelving styles. It might help narrow the search if you could suggest some artists or songs as a reference.

Do you have a distortion pedal already? If not, I would start there before getting a wah.

Sounds like you are going for the vintage type of wah tone. The Fulltone Clyde pedal would be as close to the Vox Clyde McCoy that you can get without plunking down about $800 for a real one. The Clyde Deluxe is also a good one that gives you three classic wah sounds also.

The Crybaby you were thinking about is a really good useable pedal. Depending on why you're reconsidering that one; if your looking for a more sweeping sound, not to sound cliche, but more extreme sound you could look at a Snarling Dog Whine-O pedal. It your looking for a more traditional pedal with some versatility, the Fender Classic Fuzz-Wah is IMO one of the best pedals out there. A little pricey, but you get what you pay for.

You should get a bellrhinger ultra wah pedal there nice or you can get the boss ME-20 which has every effect you want including wah and a tuner.

I like the Cry Baby wah pedals. I had one a long time ago and wish I still had it. I traded it to my freind for a Boss Dynamic Filter. I was duped I tell you, duped. Although if I bought the Roland expression pedal that is recommended for it, it would be one bad wah.

I looked up the weeping demon and I've read good reviews. Also saw some examples on youtube. I'm going to look into this one.

For Synkronized
I own the weeping demon, and in my opinion it's fantastic. Tone range is great, can be adjusted for whatever you want, pedal can be spring loaded, or you can find that sweet tone you like and let the pedal just sit there, or maybe play with the tone with your foot a little bit. It can be adjusted to sound 'like' almost any other Wah due to it's built in freq range adjustments. I love wah but I was almost put off of them forever 'coz I couldn't find the right tone/pedal combination. With the WD-7 I can dial it in and leave it, and the whole pedal range sound superb. YMMV.

Man I've owned so many wahs in my life, and after all that time I've learned that they all sound different so it would be a good idea to go to a store and check some out (I know easier said than done) but that's really the only way to get a good idea of what you need. I personally own a CryBaby 535q and I've never been happier it does everything I need, but that doesn't mean it's going to work for you.

After dealing with different models of Crybabys, Morleys and Digitech I finally found the perfect Wah for me. It's the Buddah Bud Wah. It's true bypass, silent switching, doesn't suck your tone away and there's no volume drop when you kick it on. It's very well made and the componets are top notch. it's a $180 but worth it.

Call me old fashioned, but I like Dunlop Crybaby's or Vox.

The Original Crybaby is a great all round wah, You really can't go wron. There's a bit of a learning curve if you get the 595Q, but once you've learned how to set it's controls it's wonderful. the 95 Q is cool too. It has a spring under the pedal. It's way better for Funk. Also it's only on when your using it.
