I've have them installed on two of my guitars, no problems - no complaints. I've yet to hear anything negative about them, some folks just prefer a good ole bone or other material nut.

how hard is it to install one? I see they screw down but how is the original one attached?

The original is glued in with a little wood glue or hide glue or something similar- no screws.

Needs a tad bit of work to install however, and it needs to be shimmed every now and again.
