I just got this funky looking axe, and being a Hendrix nut, I'm loving it!!
I've made some upgrades.........

1 : a set of Lace Holy Grail pickups
2 : a 3 ply pickguard from an actual VooDoo Strat (thanks E-Bay!!)
3 : Ferraglide saddles
4 : a laser etched Jimi Hendrix neckplate (thanks E-Bay once again!!)
5 : a nice Roadrunner hardshell case...(I HATE gig bags!!)

Do you tune it a half step down like Hendrix?

First....I keep this baby in standard tuning with Ernie Ball Skinny Top/Heavy Bottom strings (.010-052).

MMMatthew.....
Secondly. It plays like BUTTAH!!!!...If the thing didn't sound good (at least acoustically first...) I wouldn't have bought it...now would I? I'm not hanging this sucker on a wall....I'm playing it out live!:? :? :? :?

cool guitar. I bought a sunburst lefty squier Japan body from 83 and married it up to a right hand rosewood 66 style neck. I couldn't get used to tuning upside down.
Lots of fun. Got my how to play Axis Bold as Love DVD and went to town.
I have 3 right hand strats too. Reserve that axe for Hendrix tunes and SRV tremolo action.
I like the white /maple combo. I have a mary kaye 57 strat kind of like that.

Indeed...it is a better quality guitar than a Mexican Strat. But.......do YOU have an extra 2 or 3 grand (possibly more) laying around to (give me) blow on this baby?!!?

I was going the Hendrix Vibe Budget Style route. Total investment.....about $1000.00. (Between pickups, saddles, pickguard, neckplate and shielding)
Here's the thing too......that guitar....2,3, or 5 grand doesn't have noiseless pickups (which I need ;playing the shitholes I do!) and for all that bread...it'll STILL have the 60 cycle hum!!
