I'm new here. Merry Christmas! I am looking for some information. I just bought a strat from a "friend in need". It has a Custom Shop COA signed by John Page ( I guess, I can't read the signature), Custom Shop manager. It is a beautiful guitar, birds eye maple neck and candy cola color with matching headstock. It has USA on the back of the headstock, but I am disturbed by the serial number it begins with a CN, which the fender website states that is of Korean origin. It is a 1996, Model 1965. Can anyone help me out hear? I don't think I paid too much, not much more than the current Mexican models, but I am concerned.

Have you tried the guitarprojectdater.com website. It can tell you if the SN is recognizable in their data base. Where it was made, year, ect.

Thanks for the correction. I have the site saved on my other computer at home.

Thanks a bunch. The site says my guitar is made in Korea. I did note however, that on the left side it says that the site doesn't support Custom Shop yet. I am hoping that there is something different about CS. If not, this is a complete rip off, the serial number plate on the guitar says made in the USA and the decal on the back of head stock says the same. This would have to be a complete counterfeit if made in Korea. I'll follow up with Fender. Thanks again for the help.

Doesn't the guitar have the Custom Shop logo on the back of the headstock?

There is another thread discussing CN as both a Korean and Custom Shop serial number. Not too confusing, is it?

You are the second person in the last two weeks to say that they are getting or have a Custom shop model with a CN serial number That person said that fender told them it was a good custom shop number  Me I don't no I find it would be strange for fender to use the same serial number as they did on the Korean made models. And when you say that it is Candy Cola with matching head stock do you meen that the head stock is candy cola as well?

This is probably legit as the Custom Shop set-neck and the american classic series from the 90's had an 8 digit serial number with CN in front.
