Actually the one in Quebec. For some reason if you go to make a order through the net it goes to the Quebec location. The Toronto location is much closer to me.
Thats another thing that pizzes me off (I'm putting a happy face on for the GF though, she feels bad as it is)- since at the time they didnt put Fender prices up you had to contact them which she did. What the salesman didnt mention was that she had to go back online once she got the price for the free shipping. I'm not impressed with them at all.

Fender has a lifetime warranty for such flaws. Send it back or take it to an Authorized Fender repair shop. Just let her know that the gift was a good one (extremely thoughtful), it was just a little flawed and needs to be corrected (part of the reason I do not like ordering guitars on-line). In the end you will still have one great guitar that your girlfriend gave you. Merry Christmas. You are a lucky person to have a girlfriend that thinks so highly as to get you a guitar for Christmas.

Thanks and Merry Christmas to you.
Trust me, I know I lucked out with this one!
She just feels so bad knowing how much it means to me and keeps saying she should have just taken me out to try them out before she bought it.
I keep telling her its cool and the fact that she would do something like this means the world to me.
Anyway, enough of the drama, lol.
On a side note- The salesman did tell her the guitar would be fully inspected before shipping out :?

I definitely agree with rkreisher,
Let your girlfriend know that is is worth her weight in gold, and I'd like to ask if she has a sister?
As for the guitar, I do believe that guy who spoke to your girlfriend may have thought he would be able to get away with it, but you will still have to get a RMA# to get it repaired under warranty. I asked about Steve's Music in Toronto because I've been to that store before when I was vacationing in Toronto about 8 years ago. It was a very small store, hole in the wall in fact, which is probably why you got referred to Quebec. The way Fender does business today, the Toronto store would have been too small to even be a consideration for a Fender dealership.
Keep any papers and warranty information both from Fender, and from Steve's Music, and don't lose it Then contact the man who spoke with your girlfriend and remind him that the guitar was supposed to be fully inspected before being shipped out. As k if it was a person or a trained chimpanzee that did the inspecting! NO...on second thought, don't do that, that will probably piss them off. Just gently remind them of it and they should be willing to help you out.
I just have to say once again that your girlfriend is a jem, and you're a very lucky man.

Merry Christmas to you both

Thanks again Harley.
LOL, no sister, sorry bro
The reciept and warranty papers are in the bag so no worries there, plus the has the salesman's name jotted down somewhere.
I wont be freaking out on the guy or anything, actually I'll probably just ask for the manager right off the bat.
Tommorrow being boxing day it'll probably be busy for all the sales folks.

No sister...Dang!

I hear you about Boxing day though. I would'nt think that a music store would be that jammed up as a Department store would tomorrow. I wish you the best of luck in any case. Please post the results of what happens if you would Monty.

Monty,

You're not a newbie. Maybe new to the Forum, but like most of us, not new to Fender. I've only been a member here for a couple of months myself, but this is a cool place to hang out, and there are a lot of cool people here too.
Welcome to the Forum Bro, it's great to meet you.

Update.
I phoned Steves and talked to the tech, he said it shouldnt be a problem and that is normal.
I told him I thought that it would be a good idea to bring it to my local fender dealer to check out and also I will talk to somebody at Fender.
He said if there is a problem to send it in to them. We shall see.

Thanks guys.
Next update:
Went to my local shop, the sales guy(tech wasnt in) said it looked a bit deep but it seemed OK. We checked out other newer Strats and they were in fairly deep also, not as deep but deeper than I would think is normal. Maybe that is how they are doing it these days.
I will contact Fender though to get their take on things.
