The TS-9, the TS9DX turbo, or the TS808 vintage.

Here's a list of influences: Aerosmith, The Beatles, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Cheap Trick, CSN, Deep Purple, Dire Straits, The Doors, The Eagles, ELO, ELP, Eric Clapton, Genesis, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Mother Love Bone, Neil Young, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Pink Floyd, The Police, Porcupine Tree, Queen, The Rolling Stones, Rush, Santana, The Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Temple of the Dog, U2, Van Halen, The Who, ZZ Top etc...

Right now I have a Vox Valvetronix amp, but I'm planning on getting a tube amp in the late future. I'm looking to combine the tube screamer with my Big Muff Pi.

I can only reply about the TS-808. Great pedal for what I play(Blues,Blues Rock) Will go mild or wild. Tube amps love em. My 2 cents 8) Mike

The TS 808 is the only Tube screamer to play with a strat for me. A fulltone OCD is nice to for blues and classic rock.

I'm not a pedal person. Yet, from most players I know who are familiar with such things, they all say the same: The TS 808 is the absolute best. Next is the Digitech DF-707 which gets you very close to the TS 808 and can duplicate and exceed the TS-9 which, is their 3rd choice. Again, this is 2nd hand info so take it FWIW.

I have a blues Jr tube amp, Hooked up to a 57 American vintage Stratocaster guitar. With a TS9DX Turbo tube screamer, This set up comes to life, it is capable of playing any type of music you desire. The reason I picked the turbo over the original Is it has much more versatility than the original. It is a great piece of equipment that every guitarist needs in there arsenal. Get the Turbo you will love it. :D

I heard that you can modify a TS-9 tubescreamer to sound like the 808. I'll probably get the TS-9 turbo and modify it later.

sorry blaqdog for hijacking your your thread, however its relative.
what you can do is get ts808, and distortion pedal, to satisfy heavier rock needs. im really a noob, when it comes to pedals.

now, my hijacking question, >> can you use a tube screamer on a solid state amp, or does it mess up the sound?
i have a blues driver, and a fender 25r frontman (still working on a better amp) and i cant get a good tone out of it.
i use my gdec and get pretty good if not awesome at times, tone.

I'm pretty sure you can use it on a solidstate and aquire a good tone, but I think it's really meant for tube amps. Thus the name "tube" screamer. A tube amp is the best amp to get if you're really concerned about tone.

I used an 80's TS-9 and it does mild to wild. I have put it on the shalf and replaced it with a Homebrew Power Screamer. This pedal has a very good tone and is very close to TS-9.

well, the 1 i have is a boss "bluesdriver" not a tube screamer.
so yeah, i realize its better in a tube amp. i just figured, maybe someone had sugestion with the amp/pedal combo i currently own.
i have to wait on the tube amp, considering i just took my gibson les paul double cutaway out from layaway. oh yeaaah...

ill tell you what. im loving the tone from the les paul, however, im more comfortable playing a strat.
im still a strat man

Heres a little secret from Japan...

Everybody goes crazy for the Ibanez TS808. But did you know Ibanez doesnt MAKE pedals??

awwwww here we go.

A little OEM company named MAXON (you may have seen their gear and thought it was knockoff) THEY invented the TS808, the TS9, and a lot of other pedals. They DO sell under the name Maxon, but exposure is limited. So... if your looking for the Screamer and cant find Ibanez... try the Maxon. You wont be sorry.

Im also betting the go for a LOT less in the US. Here in Japan they go for a little more than the Ibanez pedals do. But most players here know who they are... Good hunting. hope to save ya a buck or two

For all solid state owners, I suggest getting this.

http://grantfidelity.com/site/B-283+Tub ... sor+Buffer

I'm planning on getting it to make my solid state come more alive.

Ehm respectfully, if these are your influences, something like a MXR distortion + with a Marshall JCM800 would be more indicated...
