Just wondering what strings everyone is using on their Strat. I always wondered what people on this forum thought of Fender Bullet strings. Let me know.

I use Ernie Ball Super Slinky - 09's. I replace them every 4 weeks (Unless they break first) and they have never let me down.

D'Adarrio 10's. Sound great to me and last a long time. Most others I'm always worried about popping for shows, even when they're new.

Never had much luck with Fender strings. They either felt funny, or popped a lot.

GHS Boomers were a fave in my metal days.

Slinky's are another that I'm not very confident about for live shows, even when new.

I just pick whats on sale in the guage I like. Many strings are made by the same factories and nickle wound strings sound like other nickle wound strings of different brands. i have bought no name types in the bargain bin and been pleasantly surprized. New strings are always brighter and louder than worn strings, so there is always an improvement.

I liked the super bullets just fine. However, I find myself picking Ernie Balls if all other things are equal/close. In the past I preferred Dean Markleys. I also bought bulk Elixirs and used those for about a year, and was happy, even though they sound darker to me.

Then again I play a lot of high gain, so some nuances of the different brands may be masked.

Bottom line is that I have no reasonable preference to brand, just the guage.

Started out with super bullets 9-42 but switched to super slinky Ernie balls I love em. If you do a lot of bends these are great.

GHS Boomers 11 gauge. Although I'm pondering going up to 12's. This 7 1/4 radius neck makes the 11's feel like 10's, I want to try a set with a wound G. Wow, I guess Boomers seem like the strings of choice.

I have been using Fender Super Bullets .009's on my Fender and D'Addario XL .009's on my ESP LTD.

I think I like the Regular Bullets .009's better. I have been thinking of putting 10's or 11's on my Fender.

I use D'addario EXL115 Blues/Jazz Rock string. They hold their tone much longer than other strings and are much cheaper than Elixrs. Their unique packaging is environmentally safe, plus I really don't like paying "extra" for fancy plastic and separate envelopes for each string.

I have been paying $3.99 for the Super Bullets on Musiciansfriend.com...and they are decent. I do like the D'Addario's as well.
