I have read online that MIA and MIJ Stratocaster bridges are not the same size. As a result of this, some aftermarket pickups dont play well in MIJ stratocasters. Can anyone shed light on this or better, provide documentation that backs it up? I havent yet found any on my own...

Geez. Sounds like some internet rumor somebody mustve posted up to bag on strats made outside the US. I bought into it... at least enough to be worried about it obviously.

Chet. Not to go all Doubting Thomas on you, but I dont suppose youve got some MIA and MIJ that youve measured, or some other parts documentation to support that both bridges have the same dimensions do you? I guess the source of my worries is that MIJ pickguards, backplates...dont have the same screw placement. I was even told that MIJ and MIA pickup switch holes dont match up. Likewise the threads are std vs metric.

Well, Ive personally installed an MIA switch into my MIJ strat. I KNOW the holes line up. I also re-used my MIJ screws so if the threads arent the same, theyre mighty close!

Anyway, Im considering some Lace sensors, or Fender Hot Noiseless and since pickups run about 2-3 times what they cost back home, I dont wanna uy something I cant use.

Wow, someone has gone to a lot of troubles to start a rumor.

Out of everything you mentioned the only thing with any truth to it is the holes in a pickguard. You have to count them and match up the hole patterns because Fender did make several different ones.
Other parts and pickups should work fine.

I do need to add that there are different bridge mounting holes. There are 2 or 6 mounting holes.
