Hey guys, ive been getting this irritating buzzing from my amp while im playing, it doesnt stop but gets louder if i touch the actual pickup. So is this just cuz i have single coil pickups or is it the amp?

My gear is: American Standard Strat with American Single Coils, and a Blues Junior amp.
Thanks

Do you have anything else plugged into the outlet? I was amazed to find that with my distortion pedal turned on my amp buzzes badly when the light (plugged into the same outlet) is also turned on, but not when it is off. Does it happen while you are playing clean?

I play with single coils as well and a Crate GFX-65 amp.

Floyd all single coils have a 60mhz hum . If it goes away when you are playing with your 5 position switch on 2 or 4 that is what you are hearing. If you are still hearing it with your blade switch in that position then most likely it is a grounding issue.

If it is a grounding problem it should stop if you touch the strings with your hand. This is an easy way to check the ground. There are 2 grounds on the MIA The main ground is the solder joint under the tremelo plate at the spring plate. Check that solder joint first. There is another ground under the pick guard below the middle pick up route. It is usually attached to the wood with a screw and washer. Make sure that one is secure. If it still persists then take it to your local guitar shop and let them check it out. It could be a bad solder joint somewhere between the PUPs, the pots and the blade switch. Hope this helps. :)
