My brother has a 2007 Fender American Standard Stratocaster which he was going to sell because of the 3 single coil pickup system that he doesn't find heavy enough. It says in the specs that the body is routed H/S/H so does that mean that I can just drop a humbucker in the body and get the appropriate pickguard without any routing. Or is he still looking at having to route the body to fit a normal sized humbucking pickup.

Hi Morkolo, welcome to the Forum.

Did you see this thread, just a couple down the page from yours at this moment?

http://www.fender.com/community/forums/ ... hp?t=15790

Anyhow: yes, there will almost certainly be an HSH route under that pickguard - though check to be sure.

So a new p/g with humbuckers at the bridge and neck (if you like) should fit fine.

Cheers - C

dont worry about it morkolo.
Most standard strats mexican and american are made for a humbucker in the bridge possition atleast. Some have space for a humbucker at the neck possition too. just unscrew the pickguard and check that the bridge and or neck possitions are wider than the middle possitions cutout.

No probs at all.

Just remember, when you're done modding - post us some nice pix to look at!

Good luck - C
