It varies - sometimes Dunlop Tortex heavy, sometimes Fender heavy (which aren't very heavy), sometimes Fender medium (which are kind of thin IMO). I try to vary the pick to suit the tone - heavy gives fatter mellower tones, thinner pick gives brighter sharper tones.

Depending upon the music I am playing, I use either a medium or heavy WHITE Fender pick: medium for blues, heavy for rock. White picks scientifically give a cleaner tone! I reverse the pick and hold the fulcrum while strumming with the back edge.

For my acoustics, I like the Fender Thin picks.

For my electrics, I like any medium pick out there.

Does anybody remember the real Tortoise Shell picks? Oh and real Tortoise Shell Pickguards? Gibson has a Guitar with a wood pickguard, probably helps the tone until it hits all that glue and stuff. My EJ has a Single Ply, Parchment, which is a wood by-product along with the Nitrocellulose lacquer which along with the tight neck joint is the key to the sweet tone.

they are so reliable and never shred apart. I used to use fender celluloid picks but they used to shred apart when i shred

I would always be (thinks to self) "whats burning?" I soon realized it was my pick. I burn up a pick in a short while as I play. fender heavys.
