There have been many versions of David Gilmours Black Strat throw the years he has played that guitar mostly to make it sound and play better becoming his ultimate axe. I like the Black Strat but its not my favourite version of the guitar I preffer the guitar during the Animals era 1976-77. Thats with the 1963 rosewood neck the black pickguard and the DiMarzio FS-1 like in the picture below. I was hoping that the Custom Shop wouldve done the David Gilmour Strat based on these spec based on a period of time it was used. Wouldnt you agree and what is your favourite version of the Black Strat.

My favorite version of it is on the Pompeii DVD ... with the maple neck, the original set up, I believe.

Who no's with all the signature guitars now days we may see a Gilmour 2 a 57 Lake Placid Blue or a Gilmour 3 the Red 57' with the active pickups or the Cream color 57" that toured with him for a few years.

After Jeff Beck's Esquire it would be astonishing if a close replica of Gilmour's 0001 doesn't come along sooner or later.

Though there was a Forum member a while back who made his own version of that guitar - and it looked pretty good!

Show us a pic :) I also just remembered that Fender Japan have made one of there 54 strat models look like the 0001 strat but it would be a good guitar to replicate cause its got all them marks. Just like the Jeff Beck Esquire

It wasn't me, I'm afraid. But perhaps the builder of that Strat will see this and repost his pix. He did a nice job.
