One came on my 72 Strat and Tele. They're really a pain, that's why we used them as ashtrays. They also interfered with my muting technique. It did nothing to change the sound. It was to protect the bridge pieces from getting corroded from sweat. Maybe a little more comfortable. That's all. They never made any of my guitars "twangier" LOL. They didn't help with sustain by adding mass either. If you like the look that's cool. I'm not that big on looks just function. It worked better as an ashtray.

i suppose if one bought an american vintage bridge, it would work, despite being a little much just for the purpose of a cover.

so whats the deal with ashtray bridge covers? i wanna put one on my 2008 mim classic 50s strat, but i dont know what kind of bridge you need to use one, and to keep it in place. !!

You'd certainly be a rarity employing one of those on that guitar. I go back over fifty years with Strats and I've never seen one on a guitar in play.
