I picked #2. I for one think there's such a thing as TOO MUCH grain. They're both awesome looking though.

Only considering looks, the grain in #1 is more interesting. And if it has a fuller sound, that might even be the one I pick ... as with you, I'd ultimately go with the one that plays and sounds best to me.

I picked Strat one because it has character a blue collar guitar with makings of life. Strat two looks like a plain jane with no makeup. Thats on looks but you have to buy the one that plays the best to you and forget the looks part of it.

2 has a beautiful "tight" grain. Try to find another one like it. I think it looks cleaner too. At any rate, how do I say this ? LUCKY, they're FLIPPIN' SWEET ! VOTE FOR PEDRO !

Isn't sounds and looks more important that how the guitar plays with todays strats? I mean, I have found that the factory set ups are hit or miss.

How many beautiful looking and sounding guitars are you guys leaving behind because the set up from the factory is weak?

These guitars are made on precise machines these days, there should be very little difference in how these can be set up. If you go with what plays best, all your doing is picking the one with the factory setup that feels best, you are not actually picking the best guitar necessarily

I went with looks and sound, and then set it up to my taste. By the way, the setup also can affect tone. I am wondering if some of you are negatively judging good guitars with bad stock setups

Additionally, the sound can also be decieving. How many hours are on the strings on one guitar vs. the other. Before you played one guitar was some greasy kid playing on it for an hour, while the other had not yet been played? This would be more noticable then the subtle differences in two pieces of alder and maple imho

So many varibles

You can pick up a guitar and play it and tell if it has a bad setup.
