So the hum has just appeared lately? It could be coming from a cable or amplifier and not the guitar. Check those first.

I also messed about with ther amps and ccables used different guitars to see if it was the amp but it is definatly coming from the guitar .
The humming seems to go away when i turn the 1st tone knob down when its in the bridge pickup , and the humming also diasapears when i turn the second tone knob down in the middle pick up position. I also read on a previous post that it can be normal to vintage guitars.

Some humming is normal on regular single coil pickups. If it bothers you that much, then get yourself some noise-canceling ones. 8)

Clean out the pots by spraying a little bit of contact cleaner in them and working them back and forth. The hum could be coming from dirty contacts in the pots.
