The owner's "manual" that came with mine leaves a lot to be desired. I'm afraid to turn the tuners, let alone do anything else.

Tuners are meant to be used - else you would never get your guitar in tune.

For more details on how to setup your guitar, see the Fender Setup Guides - http://www.fender.com/support/setup_guides.php - free :P

If you still aren't sure of what to do, take the guitar to a good music shop (possibly the one you bought the instrument from) and have a professional setup done - it can cost from $25 to $50.

There are many videos available on various guitar sites on how to change your strings and tune your guitar - be it an acoustic or an electric.

One such site is http://justinguitar.com/ - start with The Basics - http://justinguitar.com/en/TB-000-TheBasics.php

There are books on how to take care of and maintain a guitar - one of the best is:

Guitar Player Repair Guide - 3rd Edition
By Dan Erlewine

It comes complete with a DVD full of material. See http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Books,_plans/Building_and_repair:_Guitar,_electric/Guitar_Player_Repair_Guide.html

Hope this helps,

Your never going to make a omelette without breaking a couple of eggs.
The included manual is about as much as you need.

He's asking about a manual and you're telling him how to make an omelette? Strange, when you think about it.

Dude the owners manual covers just about everything.
bridge setup, saddles, truss rod, pickup height

What's missing?

Thanks again for the info. However, this my first guitar(of any type) and I'm afraid of screwing it up. A lot of the terminology in the owners manual, such as truss rod adjustment, tremolo spring vs string adjustments, etc, is pure greek to me. Perhaps I should have bought a cheap Stratocaster!

I just read the Fender frontline help and that's exactly what I was looking for. Much more detailed than my owners manual. Thanks very much for the reference. :D

You're welcome - it is a very helpful set of pages.

Glad I could be of assistance.
