I don't believe so. I've only seen it on American 70's reissue Strats and a few other late 60's American reissues. I do have a American Highway One strat and those come with 70's headstocks. I wish their standard did have the option of large or small headstocks.

I liked the large headstock back in the '70s. Now it looks more dated than retro to me.

Love everything about my HWY 1 Stratocaster. The headstock was the thing that drew to to it.

Yeah, I just picked up my 2nd strat in 17 years... This time I had to get the large headstock!! I ended up getting a 70s reissue! Funny thing about Japan is that the 70s reissues go for really reasonable prices, while actual 70s pieces go for thousands. But the manufacturing that went into the reissues was great! Ive read differing reports about the strats from the 70s...

In any case, I love my strat! If anything happened to mine, Id get another just like it, or maybe a Highway One.

Welcome to the forum, Kuroyama!

What is your first strat?

I picked up my first strat 32 years ago.

First Fender was bought while I worked at a guitar shop. 1991 Fender American Standard Stratocaster. Maple neck and gunmetal blue body. I should never have sold that thing! Well, now I have my new strat!! The quality is great, and my playing (though still bad) has improved a GREAT DEAL since I owned that 1st strat. I dunno, there are a LOT of guitars floating around the Tokyo area. And I now live in the Japanese city where I sold my first strat. The way I haunt these used guitar shops, I may one day find that strat again... But for now, Ill enjoy my Ash body Nat finish 70s reissue!!

That would make a great guitar story.

I hope it happens for you.
