I'm going to get Schaller straplocks on Saturday for my '08 American Standard. I'm a bit iffy about it though, because I've read on other forums that the screws that came with the locks don't fit. I don't want to do any major modifying to the wood of my strat. Are the screws short or are they perfect for the strat?

They are a little on the thin side so they have a tendency to slip after a while. I would try looking for some larger strap buttons- I had some that I kept from a PRS and those work great.

I put Schaller Straplocks on every guitar/bass I get. I have been using pieces of wooden toothpicks and Elmer's wood glue to fill the hole before installing. I have never had an issue and will continue to use this method on any future guitars/basses.

Toothpick method worked for me. Just a sliver, not the whole thing, Then you'd have a Flying P.... 8) :D

i bought ernie ball strap locks the same time i came to pick up my 08mia, and i used the existing fender screws, it took 2 seconds, they are dead secure and the ball bearing straplocks are the way to go IMO.

I have been using Schaller strap locks for 20+ yeares and have never lost a guitar. You can do the tooth pick, or just use the stock screw.

I have used both Fender by Schaller and Dunlop straplocks on my Strats with good results. Just use the stock screw and you are set.

I put straplocks (don't remember the brand) on my '91 Strat the day I bought it. The new screws were smaller, so I filled the holes with wooden match sticks and mounted the straplocks. They have been solid for 18 years.

I used the OEM strap button screws for my Schallers. They worked perfectly.

The second best use for golf tees, is to fill those old holes.

Put wood glue in shove the tee in and presto!

I like this place for straplocks:

http://qparts.com/

I have them on 2 guitars. They look cool and so far I have had good luck with them.
