Hello all.

New to Fenders and was hoping to pick up a Deluxe Players Strat as a main practice axe.

I had heard that it was best to buy a Mexican made Fender that was made during or after 2006, due to standard hardware upgrades. Is there any truth to this?

Does this have any bearing on the "Deluxe Players," or have these particular models been unchanged since introduction? If there have been changes, where can I find a list of them (or maybe somebody here would be nice enough to help list them)? The Fender site, apart from this section, seems pretty worthless for trying to research past models and history of specific year-to-year changes.

I hope the expertise here can clear this up for me!

Thank you,
Chris

I don't know about the model changes year by year, but I have an 07 Deluxe Players Strat in 3-tone sunburst, and it is a beautiful guitar both in terms of sound and looks! I'd definitely suggest it to anyone looking for a great guitar at a great value.

2006 was an upgrade year for the line of MIM Strats. New trem block, different frets, sheilding in the control cavity, and maybe some other changes I am forgetting. Anybody........

Thanks for the info so far, guys. :D

So, the question remains: have there been any Deluxe Players changes over time, especially concerning the 2006 MIM updates?

Basically I want to know if I can look at any year for the Deluxe Players or if I should only be looking to purchase an 06 or newer.

Thanks again for the help!

Hoping moving this back to page one will help.

If I can't get an answer to this, then I have another question:

For the 60th Anniversary models, what are the key differences between the U.S.A Standard and its Mexican counterpart?

I think the only differences between stock models and 60th anniversary models is cosmetic(engraved neck plate, headstock jewel, 60th anniv logo on back of headstock) MIM Strat had a Blizzard pearl finish, if I remember correctly, and MIA models came in 3 tone sunburst, possibly more finishes, I can't recall.
Differences in MIM and MIA models have been well documented in this forum, so do a search about it.
