I picked this up at a pawn shop about 6 mos. ago. I really like the feel & sound so I bought it for $475 out the door. It came with a vintage case and matching strap. Also has quick release thingers...lol Going by the serial # it dosen't seem to be a reissue but it sure sems like it. Haven't taken it apart or anything, just waiting until I change the strings. I know it's a 85-86 CIJ and thats about it. Anybody have an idea how to find out the specs on it. I'd really like to know. Serial # is B000554. Hop I figure the pic thing out so you can see it. Thanks, Steve.

I can't tell you to much about the guitar other than the fact that for 475 bucks a MIJ strat with a tweed case is a pretty sweet deal. Also, i love that tweed strap, i'm going to now surf the internet until i find one and buy it:)

One moe ting! haha, i'm sure someone will correct me on this as I am new haha, but isn't the oversize headstock reminiscent of a 70's strat?
I like them very much:)[/code]

I put it through the guitar project dater and it says:

Your guitar was made at the
Fuji-gen Plant (for Fender Japan), Japan
in the Year(s): 1985 - 1986

Yes for that price you got a steal...as far as more in depth information you could try wikipedia or if you have a Japanese translator try some the Japanese Fender site. HAve fun with that guitar.

It is a Japanese Vintage Reissue. The headstock is "70's style", but if you look closely you will notice that the decal is not the large 70's style. That means that is it the guitar is based on a '66 model. Transitional year for the strat.

I can tell you that is a fantastic guitar. Japenese Reissues regularly go for 7 or 8 hundred here in NYC. Hold on to it!

One thing that is strange is that according to info in this site, the term "Made in Japan" was used and guitars from the 1985-86 time period. The term "Crafted in Japan" wasn't used until 1997-98. I have a '72 RI Strat that has serial # EXXXXXX, and it is from 1984-87 and says 'Made in Japan" on the back of the neck near the heel, and says Fender and Japan on the 3 bolt neck plate. A serial #BXXXXXX is from 1984-85, so that seems okay, but the term Crafted in Japan seems odd for a guitar of that vintage. I could be wrong, but look up Dating Japanese-Made Fender instruments in the support section of this site, and see for yourself.
Oh by the way, it looks like a really nice Strat, and it should play nicely too. It looks like you got a great deal on a sweet guitar!!!!!
