I am getting a new stratocaster sometime soon. This will be my first guitar so I am wondering if I should get a Mexican stratocaster or an American stratocaster. Can anyone tell me which one I should get? ?

Welcome to the Forum!!

I voted for American Strats...but i heard the new MIM are very well made and as competitive as the American counterparts. Its still not here in my local store....i've been wanting to try...

Best is to get down to your local store and try all the strats....the one that feels the best and most appealing to you is the right one for you.

Good luck!

I agree with the above statement. What feels best in your hands is what should follow you home.

Try both I have one of each. The mexican was my first. It is important to have them set up by a tech at first until you have a good feel for doing it on your own. If both are set up the same only a professional would notice any real difference. Also a good set up will keep you from getting discouraged with your choice, Good Luck.

They all play well, American, Mexican and Asian models.
It all depends on which one feels and sounds the best to you,.
Also who's economy you want to support with your purchases.

Buy the best you can afford.

American is the better of the two.

Mexican is good for the price, but...

I've heard that too. I'm excited to try one. I like the Fender transitional logo plus MIM is not on the headstock anymore!!! I might have to pick one up soon. This will be my new project guitar. Slap a pritty pearloid pickguard on her , some new PU's....:P

I am putting Schaller Fender locking tuners and CS '69 pickups on it . I ll take some pics when I get it done . Well when local fender tech get done with it .! lol By the way to put tuners on and change out pickups is $70.00 to much ? Well cant wait tell Christmas I can open my own gift .!!!!!

Well as an economist I always try to purchase American or Canadian made things, not just for better quality but to support the American and Canadian labor force. It just feels like a real guitar to me if it is made in the USA and although they are better quality, just the face that it was made in the states makes it a good guitar for me.
