Hi everyone, Newbie here. I just got a 2008 American Standard a few days ago and fell in love with it's sound and tone. However, I am having problem with the tuning even with the light usage of the trem bar. I am just amazed on how some fender players use their tremolo heavily but still staying in tune. This is my first time I own a fender and I am new to it's tremolo system. Can anyone give me some tips in setting up my strat and staying in tune. Thanks in advance.

Bring it back where you got it from and let them check the intonation. Maybe the springs have to be adjusted or may be an easy fix of some kind.

I never had any problems with mine either, must be a small adjustment.

Good for you Buick!!
Doesn't really help this guy out though!

JPD is right, if you only got the guitar a few days ago then the shop you bought it from not only has an obligation to, but I'm sure would be happy to take a look at it for you. Should just need some adjustment to the spring tension. Tell them how you want to use it and they should make the necessary adjustments.

JPD is right....Also you should see if any lubrication at the nut is needed...Some graphyte (from a pencil) is used sometimes to avoid friction...the string guides at the headstock may cause the same problem.....Good Luck!!!!......

I agree with taking it back to have checked. It probably came with 9's on it too. If you prefer heavier strings, get them on there as well.

The problem you describe is most likely caused by the nut not being broken in yet. When you release tension on the strings the have a tendency to get bound up in the nut. Try a little graphite from a pencil in between the grooves as well as just a little bit of vasoline or similar under neath of the string tree.

Thanks everyone for the helpful reply. Really appreciate it. 'guess I will try the adjustment first to the nut. If that wont solve, I will take to the shop then.
Thanks again. :)

One more thing, make sure the strings are properly stretched. Once I have done this I never have any tuning problems. Hope it works.

That's wonderful. But like Goose said, this poor guy is no further ahead regardless of your bit of good fortune.

This is like a guy telling you " My stomach really hurts..." and you say " Why? I don't feel a thing!" ;)
