I purchased a used 1998 Standard American Strat on Ebay recently that requried a fret level and polish. We removed the neck and noticed alot of glue in the body's neck cavity, not sure how typical this is; but I'd say it was at least a 1/16 of inch thick. I think it was used to level the kneck, but it was hard to tell if that was done at the factory, or after the fact. Does anyone know if the glue (epoxy or laquer) is used during the manufacturing process of American Stratocasters, or did someone use that perhaps to get the "Deluxe Body" to fit properly.

In addtion, the body appeared to be"Deluxe Solid Ash" with screw holes that matche the Neck Plates for both the "Deluxe Model" (angled on the neck pickup side) and "American Standard" configuration (Rectangular).
I did some research on the available bodies for the 98's Standard models, and found that they only offered the Solid Ash Body with a clear finish, and mine was Brown Sunburst. More eveidence that the original body had been replaced with a Solid Ash Deluxe body, or atleast I think so.

Could someone tell me if the "Am Deluxe Stratocasters" come stock with both the "Deluxe Neck Plate Pattern" (angled) and "Standard Neckplate Pattern" (rectangular) screw pattern?

Does anyone have the specs for a 1998 Standard American Stratocater?
