Does anyone have the factory individual string height's for a MIA strat ('96)? All I can find are the first and 6th string measurements and don't want to spring for a $25 gauge from StewMac.

You want to stay with the curve of the radius. For the E, A, D, and G strings use the Bass side measurement. For the B and e use the Treble side measurement.

I believe for your guitar should be 4/64 on both sides. That is a starting point. Action adjustments may be made from there.

I'm not sure what gage you are referring to, but if you want to check the radius, you can make a gage. As for string height, is there a reason you want the factory settings? I set all mine to my liking and don't worry about factory settings.

Unless you have another reason for wanting the info, I would go with your own preference.

Let me know if you want the info for the gage and I will dig it up. Simple to make.

Thanks for kick-starting my brain...it didn't dawn on me that if the fretboard is curved, and I measure the height using it as a base, then the strings would be following the curve. I was thinking about it from the point of view of them being all the same height at the bridge for some reason. I knew that wasn't right, but couldn't get past it. I am embarrased to say the least...I was trying to make it too difficult.

I just bought a new-to-me '96 Lonestar and I really dislike the way the previous owner had it set up. I want to take it back to factory and then make tweaks from there. The way it is now is just so far from how I like it, I think it will be easier that way.

These are the Stewart MacDonald gauges I was talking about.

I think I could make a wooden version fairly easily, but I don't think I will need it now.

Thank you both for your help.
