Hey, this is my first post on this forum.
I just wanted to talk a little about my guitar. For Christmas 2007, i received a 1957 commemorative Strat as a gift from a loved one.Besides the fact that its stunning at first glance, its lightweight, and it sounds and plays beautifully .
One thing irks me though. The guitar is a three peice body, which is fine, except where the peices meet. You can see the line where the wood meets,in my experience it looks like after the guitar was not sanded properly after it was painted. Does anybody know what im talking about?
Anyway i hate to be nagtive(which im not, i still love the guitar) But how could fender skip such simple detail on such a great instrument?

ON a happier note, my father ran into Matt Guitar Murphy today. We used to have a gig last year but the band went different way's and we are now trying to form another group.

Anyway, any feedback or opinions on this matter are accepted.
Sonny

Huh? You were in a band with Matt Guitar Murphy?

Welcome to the forum, BTW.

the problem you describe seems inherant to fenders thin skin finishes. I've a joint line showing on my 57 hotrod. Ive read of it being on a 62hotrod and several customshop guitars. One guy with a customshop clapton asked fender about the lines and they told him that its the finish sinking into the wood on a thinskin finish. From the little i've seen of old guitars it seems to be vintage correct.

Test

Here is the guitar, however my attempt at a close up was beyond lame.

In a better word description, you can see not only where the wood grain meets(which is natrual),you can see where the paint meets.Which again i can only think the guitar was not sanded properly.Has anybody else seen this?

Anyway its not a huge deal,i still love the axe! Maybe its just that much more unique!

I've a CE as well, and I don't experience that problem at all.

Besides that, mine is clearly two picese.

Oh well, mine also has a slightly flamed neck, very subtle, but noticeable. Once on ebay I've seen one with strong flames...

Hello SonnyBlues,

Like Nikininja reported it's that way
on at least one '62 hotrod, mine.
Nothing to stress over.

Cheers.

I just checked my all of my Strats after reading your post and all of the high end ones have it! My '62 HR, 2 EJs, '57 Comm., and SRV. The SRV is really bad, one to two inch little lines all over it.

Lets rename this problem 'the mark of quality'.

Sonnyblues, that guitar is stunning. Is it a mary kaye, or based on the mary kaye. Notice that you can see the ash all over the body  , truely drop dead gorgeous. It seems that body joint lines showing through that are perfectly natural and to my mind at least desireable.

Ever wanna sell it give me a call :D .

That guitar has the same finish as the Mary Kay with a much lower price. But anyway, that finish give a great look to that guitar since you can see the wood through and maybe the imperfaction of it.
I don't see any special problem on yours, maybe the detail are not big enough on your pics.
Enjoy your guitar, I'm looking for one for more than a year, and I can't find any in the original shape !!!

it won't affect playability and it happens unless the paint is reeeaaaall thick.

If the finish line bugs you , wait until you start scuffing it up. Oh boy.

Sounds authentic to me, 3-piece and finish sink in the joins.
I notice more finish sinking over time, especially on an alder body.
Don't sweat it, it's natural - even on the most expensive strats
