Damp cloth and elbow grease can work wonders.

Same lacquer on the fingerboard as on the rest of the neck. So whatever you use for that, use on the fingerboard as well. Dunlop 65 occasionally for me. But mostly just a cloth and plenty of hot breath...

Cheers - C

A little saliva on a clean cloth can get stubborn crud off. for the stubborn stuff near the frets, a toothbrush works great.

... and don't let it get to that point in the first place. Finished maple fretboards are the easiest to keep clean. Clean it when you change strings so it never builds up so much. Takes a few minutes tops.

I had a student that would never clean his neck then wonder why it was so dirty all the time. He never thought of cleaning it when he changed his strings apparently.

I agree. I use baby wipes for a lot of different things. I am sure they would work fine a on maple fretboard.
