 Hey all! Just wondering, where would a good place to look for a Strat serial number registry, or how to find the year the guitar was built using the serial number? Thoughts?...

Thanks, Ron

Thats fantastic, thanks very much! Well my suspicions have been confirmed, my Eric Clapton strat is was made in 1989. Found out my Stevie Ray Vaughan strat was made in 2002 aswell. Nice website well done.

Welcome to the forum! That 89 Clapton is a good model. One of our esteemed posters named zzdoc will attest to it!

There is a "Serial Number Registry" for vintage Fenders.
It was compiled over decades by James Werner, noted Fender collector who lives in Iowa (at least he did). People sent him serial numbers and neck dates or body dates.

I have a mid-80s version of his list of serial numbers & dates. He was mentioned in Guitar World magazine (or possibly some other USA guitar mag, I don't recall for sure) and I mailed him my info. That's how one of my guitars' serial number ended up getting listed in Duchossoir's book.

I don't know if Werner's list is still available.
