There has been a bunch of Deep Purple mentioned, but what about "Space Truckin'"? Man, when I hear those first chords, the hairs on the back of my neck stand up...

Everyone on here has really good taste!

My favorite song intro of all time, in case anyone is interested, is a song called 'Take Five' by Dave Brubeck. You've all probably heard it- an old jazz tune. Blows my mind every time.

LOL @ orvilleowner

How about "Alive" by Pearl Jam.
May be "Pride and Joy" by Stevie Ray Vaughan ?
Someone said "yellowledbetter" the solo and outro rock in that one too.
Here's a couple..."Authority Soung" and "Pink Houses" by John Mellencamp.

What is your favorite intro riff. What is the intro riff that stucks in your brain?

Shows your ages, dudes. Now, before there was "Sweet Child 'O Mine",
there was:

'The Last Time': Keith Richards and The Rolling Stones
'The Edge of Seventeen': Waddy Wachtel with Stevie Nicks

Give Waddy's and Keith's single string workouts a try the next time you're feeling bored, and see if you can keep up with 'em for three or four minutes without missing a note.

Then, of course, there Chuck Berry's signature ripoff of the classic slide guitar riffs ala Elmore James which has become a standard of the genre.

I'm sure that if you look under Mark Knopfler's front doormat, you'll find a few interesting critters there as well.

You can't go home without 'em

my all time favourites are hearts and bones, by paul simon and once upon a time in the west by dire straits. I cant pick between the two. Or for pure hoodoo its gotta be 'oh well' by fleetwood mac. Then theres pschotherapy by the ramones, pretty vacant by the pistols. Moon over marin, dead kennedys. South of heaven, slayer. Phantom lord, metallica. The list goes on and on and changes depending on my mood. Ask me again tommorow, zztop, motorhead, acdc, dyna shaw, the stone roses, and any other artists could be top.
