Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix are my fav. The next guy even though not a great Guitarist was one of the first ones to turn me on to strats. Remember I was only 16 at the peak of this guys rep.....Tom Delonge. I have now opened myself to puplic mockery!!!!

He's just the best guitarist there was IMO. Technically brilliant, energetic, totally immersed in his music, no time for family or a life, just music. tragic but it showed in his music. Many of my heroes play strats, but Rory is numero uno.

AGREED, AGREED, AGREED - Thank you for the post!

I am always stunned and saddened by how under-rated Rory Gallagher is in the general music world.

I still find it utterly unimaginable that he was excluded from Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 greatest guitar players!!!

my first one was SRV and he is the reason I even play guitar. I started out playing drums and then i heard the srv memorial cd and the first song was pride and joy by bonnie raitt and ever since then i want to play like Stevie. I quickly changed my roots from metal to blues and started listening to a lot of blues greats and then even getting into old RnB. for the rest of fav strat players ill say Eric Clapton, John Mayer, Buddy guy, Jeff Healy, Jimi Hendrix, and Robert Cray

I heartily agree. Rory's my top pick as well. Listening to Live in Europe and Irish Tour for the first time were practically life changing experiences for me!
