Rock - Ritchie Blackmore
Blues - Stevie Ray Vaughn and Buddy Guy

Yes there are many others that have influenced me but I think these are at the top of the list

Jimi Hendrix

He did it all by the age of 27 and before 1970.

I idolize anyone who can get a great Strat sound. When you really think about it, there aren't very many people who can actually play this guitar correctly!

Knopfler and Beck. Pete Green's a strat man these days and quite a bit of the old Mac stuff is recorded with a strat, so i suppose i include him too. Although he's more associated with LP's.

Oddly enough, it was my Strat that made me want a Strat. Or rather, It made me realized I had the right guitar.

I wanted a Heritage Cherry Les Pual like the one Jimmy Page pulls out for "Whole Lotta Love" on The Song Remains The Same. As fate would have it, Guitar Center had a Sale on an American Stratocaster with a Kahler Spyder Trem for $320 out the dooor. My Mom and Dad jumped on it, and I got my First Quality Electric Guitar. I played it and loved it, but secretly I still wanted a Les Pual, until I played one my freind got a year later. It was a late 60's Black Beauty, and it sounded great, and played great. But it wasn't my Strat. It didn't have the majic my Fender had.
